Gray Diamonds
There are a growing number of consumers who want natural color diamonds which combine metallic hues and mirror sharp brightness. Diamonds with gray as the primary color are unique. Gray is a neutral color containing little or no saturation. Common names for gray diamonds include charcoal gray, steel, pigeon, slate, silver, pewter and nickel. All of these are grouped under the heading of silver. At their best the brilliance of Gray diamonds is like the sheen of a highly polished sword.
Fancy gray diamonds cover a wide span of neutral hues. Their color has been compared to the sky as it becomes increasingly stormy. As the sky gets cloudy and darkens to full cloudburst gray you will find a shade of gray diamond for each stage. When you add secondary colors such as violet or blue to gray diamonds their color becomes more dramatic. Many fancy color diamonds have gray as a secondary color that seems to give the color more character. Gray diamonds often appear very different when viewed under natural daylight versus an artificial light source. Enhanced gray colors are rare due to the ready availability of natural gray diamonds.
